Workshops & Training
Group workshops and training programs are an economical way to gain technical knowledge, work cooperatively with other professionals and committed volunteers, and expand awareness of possibilities. Often, a staff or board member may save the organization a great deal of expense by upgrading skills at a workshop or two before beginning intensive consultation work.
Group workshops and targeted training programs are offered in all areas of fundraising, development, sustainability and related planning. These programs can be designed to meet the needs of one particular organization, or can be sponsored by one group and offered to other nonprofits or individuals.
Single Organization, short "in-house" workshops:
- considering a capital campaign
- building an annual fund plan
- learning to ask for money
- creating a grant-seeking program
- identifying your donors' profile and motivations
Group workshops, with representatives of many organizations:
- annual fundraising theory and planning
- preparing for a capital campaign
- writing effective fundraising letters
- building a sustainable organization
- raising endowment and planned gifts
Other topics can easily be developed. The organization that wants to tackle its own immediate challenges and develop a solid plan for action should consider an "in-house" workshop. The organization looking to build skills and general knowledge should consider working with other groups to sponsor a groups workshop.
Fees: Workshops fees are $1200 for a full day within Vermont, and$1200-$1500/day outside Vermont, plus travel. Shorter presentations at conferences are also possible, with fees negotiated. In-house workshops will be more effective if some time is spent familiarizing me with your organization in advance.
